As a DeFi protocol, SushiSwap has been pushing the limits on decentralized trading, and the acquisition of Vortex Protocol is an exciting addition to their product line. The new platform, built atop Sei Network, a blockchain using Cosmos' tooling, will come under the SushiSwap umbrella as another product with a new name, which is yet to be announced.
According to SushiSwap's CEO, Jared Grey, "this acquisition is a direct partnership between the SEI, Vortex, and Sushi teams to help bring to market the first fully on-chain perpetual DEX via Sushi." The Sei Network co-founder, Jayendra Jog, also added that "we chose to make use of the Cosmos SDK because it's extremely modular and extremely easy to get a chain off the ground. And then you can tweak whatever you need to make that chain better."
The acquisition also means that SushiSwap will be one of the first Ethereum applications to move over to the Cosmos ecosystem, where developers can spin up blockchains tailored to specific projects. With both Sei Network and Vortex Protocol launching on mainnet in Q2 of 2023, there is a lot to look forward to from SushiSwap.
In the world of decentralized finance, SushiSwap is making a name for itself by acquiring innovative projects like Vortex Protocol. We can't wait to see what else they have up their sleeves!
